  1. Walls of CCLP1

A while back, in his designer diary notes for his penultimate CC1 set, Josh Lee had posted a number of comments about wanting to create a set based on the walls of CCLP1. Only a few levels were ultimately converted, but the idea stuck with me and came back to mind while playing through Jeffrey Bardon's recent Walls of CCLP4 set. Originally, I was considering making a CC1 set that was entirely based on walls from various levels among all the official CC1 sets, but Jeffrey's hard work proved that there was merit in sticking with one set and going for it, regardless of the difficulty involved in the conversions. On top of that, I hadn't regularly designed for CC1 in several years, so the idea of working from existing starting points was very appealing. I love the idea of designing for CC2, but jumping from no recent design experience to a completely new game felt a bit daunting. This has made the transition much more palatable.
At first, I considered the idea of releasing the set all at once at the end of its development, much like Jeffrey did with WOCCLP4. But as I began designing, I remembered playtesting Andrew Menzies' The Other 100 Tiles and giving feedback gradually throughout the course of its construction. I like the idea of iterative releases and continuous feedback over a lump sum release, so I've decided to release this set in about 30-level increments, with the levels in each batch placed after the previous one(s) and arranged among themselves in rough difficulty order. This first release is only 26 levels, but there are some tough ones here, so I'm hoping that the next major release, at 60 levels, will include a few easier challenges. The difficulty of the set will hopefully be moderate to hard.
Feedback is very much welcomed and encouraged! Please let me know what you think of the levels, what you'd like to see more or less of, and how the set can improve as time goes on.

  8. Centennium II

This is my second CC2 set, which, unlike its predecessor, is designed to use all the available game elements. Until it too reaches 100 levels, none of the levels are set in stone. They are subject to be changed or removed entirely depending on the feedback received for this set. The level order will certainly be changed at the 1.0.0 release to provide a reasonable difficulty curve.

Much like Centennium, there will be tutorial levels of a sort at the beginning of this challenge as well, but they will be designed to be played like non-tutorial easy levels. If some end up being too difficult, I will consider moving them back to a later position in the set. Feel free to leave comments / feedback / suggestions at the levelset series thread here: http://cczone.invisionzone.com/index.php?/topic/1140-jbs-cc2-levelset-feedback-thread-centennium-ii-under-construction/

  9. Centennium

This is my first level set for CC2, featuring ports of 100 levels I created for CC1. The only changes that were made were adding bonus flags and custom floors / walls in select places. I hereby grant permission for any of these levels that did not appear in official CC1 sets to be considered for future official CC2 sets.

  11. JBLP1

This set is the first in a series of MS- and Lynx-compatible level packs that I will be releasing over the next several years.

The levels in these sets are meant to be simple and straightforward in the spirit of the original game, though the difficulty peak is ultimately a bit higher. There's a mix of action, puzzles, mazes, and hodgepodge levels to enjoy for players of almost any skill level.

Originally, this set, JBLP1, contained 100 levels when it was released during the CCLP1 submission period. Since then, new levels have been added to take the total to a full 149. The set also features 12 tutorial levels as a preface to the challenges that lie ahead, as well as eight additional post-tutorial levels to introduce various types of gameplay. Any changes made to this set after its initial release are listed in the changelog. Changes with asterisks indicate edits that may affect TWS solutions for previous versions.

Please consider the levels in this set for any future community-produced level packs.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to private message me on CCZone or e-mail me at k7jbl@yahoo.com. Enjoy playing!
