IHNN's scores

Recommended Posts

CCLP3 (MS)

070: 409 (+78, b ) [On the Coast]

079: 313 (+50, b ) [Clear the Way]

6,027,470 (96 bolds)

I...guess I'm back? Neither of these took too long to find or score, maybe an hour each. I'd really like to get that CCLP3 bold count up to 100, and there's enough routes I know (Slide Show, YAYAP, Elite, Twisted Chambers, Jumble, The Aftermath) to get there even if a couple records get sniped again.

We were both under the impression that if multiple people reported a new record within 30 seconds, the record would be credited to all of them. It looks like that isn't the case.

This used to be the case, then at some point I rewrote a bunch of stuff and got lazy and stopped supporting it (times have to match exactly now).  I think I have a good solution though.  From now on the reports themselves will no longer include seconds.  In order to synchronize a joint score report, report it 30 seconds after the minute for best chance of success.

Also James' eye should stop twitching now.

Another 1 second improvement! (thanks J.B. for the exchange of ideas even if most of mine didn't pan out this time :P)

CCLP1 (MS)

092: 837 (+1, b) [The Shifting Maze] I was waiting to report this until after J.B. did but since it hasn't happened yet, here's my report. He scored it first and will obviously be credited first on the scoreboard.

6,005,850 (144 bolds)

I guess I also copied a bold and some other public routes.

CCLP3 (MS)

111: 613 (+430, b-7) [Freakin' Out at J.B.'s Insane Route]

113: 407 (+196, b-6) [stress Fracture]

145: 735 (+453, b) [Recurring Dream]

6,039,050 (100 bolds)

...and now I'm just scoring stuff while I wait for J.B. to report Shifting Maze :P (was the original intent.)

CC1 (MS)

061: [950] (+40, b) [Rink]

5,977,210 (135 bolds)

CCLP1 (Lynx)

082: 92 (+1, b) [i had this right all along]

5,986,720 (110 bolds, assuming I kept this up to date)

CCLP1 (MS)

082: 96 (+1, b+1) [Launch]

6,005,860 (144 bolds)

...I spent days on this. I had 8 runs that would have been a 96 had the last RFF been down. Even this run didn't have that RFF go down BUT BECAUSE THE FIRST PART WAS PERFECT AND THE SECOND PART WAS PERFECT I GET THE 96 AND THE GRIND IS OVER.

On the plus side I learned how to manipulate the RNG out of this, that was fun. This score wasn't manipulated though, it was just the result of...I don't even know. 12 hours of attempts over the past few days? Definitely closer to 24 total across all the times I tried this, which would be ~1700 attempts. Ouch.

PROBABILITY CALCULATIONS

First set optimal: LUU or U(override)LU = 1/64 + 3/256 = 7/256

Second set optimal: 2R and 2D interspersed with overrides, then D + D.

2R/2D = (1/2)^4 = 1/16, but only 6 of the 16 possibilities have 2 of each, so 6/256.

Holding R with 3 overrides = 27/64.

There are 4 arrangements of where the overrides can be- **O*O*O*, *O**O*O*, *O*O**O*, *O*O*O**.

The D+D ending = 1/16.

All together for 96.2, this is 7*6*27*4 / 256*256*64*16 = 4536/67108864.

Reduction: 567/8388608 = ~1/14800.

Trying to calculate the odds of dropping 1 move is beyond me, but it's still pretty unlikely. Probably around Monster Lab/LUNIT.

Odds of still getting 96 if a move is dropped in the first set: 1/404.

Great job on the record!

When I started calculating the odds of this about two years ago, I realized it wasn't as astronomical as one could guess (or the name of the level would hint at). So I thought I might attack it some day if nobody else thought to do so first. Knowing it's still not a quick feat, I'm not upset you got there first. The details in the math are interesting, and I've been planning on writing something about them, but never wanted to do it while the bold was still 95. Maybe now I'll get around to it, you know, eventually. :)

I got bored and played out a loose route (no map shenanigans, just playing the level and developing a route) for Cold Fusion Reactor a week ago. Then I played The Longest Track once to try an idea a couple days ago- I do lose 4 moves to being dumb in that 862, but I since it's not bold, I don't care.

Some stats...

I attempted this a lot a couple years ago, during my initial CC1 push. I had 0 successful green keys (on pace) but managed to get it once after a couple hours and played out the level for a 387. My score stayed there until yesterday. I grinded for about 2 hours and didn't get the green key at all, but through careful analysis of the 402 video, I was able to slowly but surely figure out common mistakes and avoid them. Then I got the green key and immediately messed up the second room. A while later, I'd gotten more green keys, bu no second room successes. Then I got one that was a move behind- died at third room. Then I got one on pace that ran into a wall immediately after the 4D. That was discouraging.

What wasn't discouraging was the fact that I was starting to get the green key much more often, so losing attempts past it didn't hurt as much. Then I finally reached the last room on 402 pace... and immediately missed the first block intercept. I played it out and ended up with a 385, which didn't even improve. A few green keys later, I got back... and missed the final half wait.

Day 1:
Green Keys: 35
Second Rooms: 12 (6, 12, 16, 19, 21, 24, 27, 28, 30, 31, 33, 35) (bolded numbers oofed after 4D) (italics is technically a fail)
Third Rooms: 7 (16, 21, 24, 27, 30, 31, 35)
Fourth Rooms: 0

After that set of attempts, I wanted to keep going, but my hand was too fatigued to get the DDDUULUR chain at the end at this point, so I stopped for the night. The next morning I tried for another hour, and after 2 consecutive failures to the DULUR to get the second block at the end, I took a pause. I'd been inputting at full speed and thinking I was going too slow. But a quick analysis showed that it was actually DUL (small pause) UR! With that gotcha realized, I had a few other boosting mistakes on the last 2 blocks, but I was consistent enough at getting to the end that it hardly mattered. I even got to the last 2 blocks on two consecutive attempts!

Day 2:
Green Keys: 17
Second Rooms: 10 (1, 2, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17)
Third Rooms: 10 (1, 2, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17) (bolded numbers are 401s that mis-executed the final boosting chain, but were perfect until after the last blockslide)
Fourth Rooms: 1 (17)

Total green keys to success: 52.

Total successful second rooms: 22 (yeah, 30 failures on the half waits and UU[1/2]UU stuff, + 4 5D instead of 4D)

Total attempts at the last room: 17.
