Call for CC2LP1 Level Pack Submissions (Submissions Close May 31)

Recommended Posts

Greetings Chipsters,

In honor of CCLP4 submissions being opened three years ago today, I would like to semi-officially open level submissions for the first CC2 community pack. There have been conversations on the Discord about when submissions should open and who would like to be on the CC2LP1 staff and I've expressed my interest in leading the project and have received support from others. So, while the staff is not finalized, I would like to get the ball rolling by opening CC2 pack submissions, which I will maintain in a Google Doc and post here once it's more populated. You can submit your pack by letting me know here or on Discord, or letting someone know who will be sure to let me know

OFFICIAL SUBMISSION RULES:

  • What to submit: Your submissions need only be C2M files. C2G files are not required and are not even encouraged. Levels will be jumbled during the voting process and the final pack assembly so C2G files are unnecessary. This also means advanced scripting (level warps, inventory setting, etc.) are implicitly banned since they aren't contained within a C2M file.
  • Before the submissions deadline, you may submit any level without restriction. However, after the deadline there will be a six-week (length tentative, could be extended) period in which you may fix the levels you submitted to conform to the following rules or withdraw levels from consideration.
  • Obvious criteria: no unsolvable levels, no busted levels, no levels that have appeared in any official level pack before, no blatant level mods
  • Level content: It has been decided that no contents other than those listed above will restrict a level from being accepted into voting. CC1 boot levels, zero directional blocks, blank no signs, any misc hex edited tiles, hide logic, and inaccessible bonuses are allowed. Viewport, RNG setting, and map size can be anything. No preliminary bans were put it effect since these levels are in the minority and the voting results will better gauge community interest in these types of levels.
  • Level solutions: MUST be provided. This is mostly to reduce time staff spends testing submitting levels (which, I know from CCLP1 and CCLP4, takes a while). If you are having technical troubles recording solutions to your levels, we can accommodate.

Level submission deadline is May 31st at 11:59 pm in whatever timezone you live in (technicality: they official close on 11:59am June 1st UTC, since that when the last timezone will cross midnight, but please try to get your levels in early anyway :D)

Good to know this is moving forward! I want to reiterate that I support Tyler as staff leader, and am willing to serve on the staff in any capacity if you're willing to have me. :)

I just want to add that for CC2 submissions, individual levels should probably also be accepted, not just "packs".

It's great to see this happening :D I won't submit anything just yet; I will create a submissions set consisting of C1059-CC2 levels, and other levels, later on.

Also I would perhaps be interested in being part of the staff.  I support Tyler as leader (Y)

Great to see CC2LP1 progressing and take shape (Y)

I can help as far as far as my time allows it, if you want me to

@quiznos00 Why are 9x9 viewport levels allowed when there were numerous opinions against it in the feedback topic, and they clearly go against the spirit of a CC2 set? Yet at the same time you did decide to ban CC1 boots rules, which are not much more of a carryover from the original...

The majority of responses were in favor of both and the CC2 original set uses 9x9 viewports.

Some of these decisions are not final.

May I point out that the original set that comes with the game has a few 9*9 levels? (clap)

Is there a list of CC2 level viewport sizes somewhere? The wiki doesn't seem to have that information.

Everything I listed in the third paragraph is still up to further debate.

I see - did you edit the first post here? Otherwise I must have missed that...

Regardless, if what @Ihavenoname248 wrote in the other topic about the CC1 boots feature being added late is correct, we really should consider treating these two things the same way: either both CC1 boots and 9x9 viewports are allowed, or neither option is.

(By the way, I apologize if I've taken this topic off track - I thought the decisions were final. Please feel free to split and/or merge posts as necessary.)

I plan on doing the same.

What about nominating levels/sets by people who are not around? For example I'd like to nominate levels by Motez...(long name) but I'm not sure he's active at all currently.

Oh thanks! I'm around...kind of.  I've mostly been lurking the forums and have sort of been busy dealing with other things lately but I was planning on fixing up & expanding my CC2 level set over the next few months to submit them here myself

any answer for this? There are still other people like Nanamin (who I'm not sure even has an account here?) with levels I'd like to nominate..

As per all previous CCLPs, I think designers should be the ones to submit their own level packs. There shouldn't be any exceptions for this one.

Besides, Motekopasnzyaku replied to this topic above.

do you guys try to contact anyone like this? It seems a shame if someone (like Nanamin for example, but it could be anybody) who has made excellent levels to simply go unconsidered just because they haven't visited the forum lately.

I would support doing this (Y) I did this for a few people for CCLP4 submissions, and it would probably be a good idea to do it again for this set.

Designers who have made levels but are hereby inactive or don't make regular visits to CCZone can be reached out to, to be informed of CC2LP1 submissions but it is ultimately the designer's choice whether they want to submit levels for it or not. :)

of course; I didn't mean to suggest including a level by someone unbeknownst to them. I just was making sure it was okay to say: 'hey, see if we can get a hold of this person because they have some awesome levels or etc'. Of course I guess I already did that myself

Here is a link to the spreadsheet so far:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jpq1QdjhxQny_r9lvYiCEETONQ6_a0H39dRC8QMWHzc/edit?usp=sharing

By the way, the best way to submit your levels for consideration is by uploading them to CCZone so that there's a permanent repository for them. That way you can make updates as you please without needing to notify me :D

And for the two people wondering... yes I will be submitting my levels soon, but through a separate pack specifically for CC2LP1 consideration.

Sorry to cause confusion already
Yet I'm pretty sure there are just 122 levels in Mind Games ++ (or my program to extract them doesn't work properly ) even though there probably are zombie c2m files in the folders and the Relaxation Vault in Test Subject Chip and Melinda is just a gimmick together with the c2g script, which means as well here can just be found 4 instead of 5 levels...
To avoid those problems I uploaded the 138 levels now including as well 4 new ones here on cczone in a proper way to be easier to work with: :)

Can confirm. I didn't send all of the levels in my set since some of them might be out-of-place in a beginner's set... such as the bullet hell levels and the player.bmp joke.

I also submit EXTRACTION and OPTIMAZE from JBoneMisfits 1.0.0.

Do level file titles matter? I mean; for example is it okay if I submit a pack with the files titled "Map1, map2, map3.." etc?

Filenames do not matter. In fact, any c2g file you may include will not matter either since the individual levels will be repackaged later during voting.

After various Discord discussions, here are the final level submission rules. I've mirrored this in the original post in this topic:

here's my first pack (zip file) of levels to submit; they're attached.

I plan to submit at least one more pack.

When it comes to mistakes or anomalies; for example if a level is titled with a "2" and there was no "1" please let me know. I tried to look over every level and make sure everything was in order but mistakes can still be made. In my replays I do not always get the maximum bonus possible. I have not checked all of my levels for impossible bonus flags so if a decision is made on that later, I will fix any issues in my levels if there are any.

I'd like to also submit my newest level: Moonlight Mansion (previous name Moonman Mansion)

EDIT: This is the new version which fixed an error with a walker making a certain chip impossible sometimes as well as making it slightly easier and far less tedious.

Edit 2: author name fix

Just to be clear, i would like geodavecc2 and geodavekool to be submitted.  These are the steam-shared versions of geodave5 and Oracle of Light and they are better just because.

Here we go again.

I present Lesson 9, an important lesson level about blockslapping as its featured a lot in quite a few submitted levels now and its never really been properly explained in game. So I made this level that teaches all about black slapping, monster slapping, and wall slapping for cc2.

Edit: author name fix

I submit the attached levels for CC2LP1 consideration.

These are all ports of CC1 levels I've made (mostly made for create competitions), with a few CC2 tiles added.

I've uploaded a couple more collections of levels that I'd like to be considered:

^ A collection of two levels ("Telenet Mining" and "Bringin' Down the House") that I designed after completing Chipit or Whiffit, but won't have time to make a full-fledged set for before CC2LP1 submissions.  This file won't be updated with new levels, but might be updated to fix the existing ones if there are problems.

^ A collection of ports of levels from Pit of 100 Tiles and The Other 100 Tiles (my CC1 sets) that I want to be considered for CC2 voting.  I will probably add more levels to this at least once before the submission deadline.  (I just wanted to get these out there to ensure that I don't miss out on submitting them if something goes horribly wrong right before the deadline.)  However, there's no guarantee that I'll finish all 100 that I had originally planned.

Indeed Jeffrey is correct, but if you want it straight from the staff, CC3D is an official level pack and adaptations from it will not be considered (even if CC3D adapted levels from CC2 lol)

Oh well.

I do have a really good original level planned.

It will probably be my only other submission.

The final days for submissions have arrived. Make sure to submit levels for consideration in CC2LP1 in time to give people a chance to enjoy your creations in voting and the final set :chipwin:
Here the official submissions overview - the authors are taken from the levels, different writings yield different rows in the table, if no author or title is specified, the level is not counted in this list. If the number of levels listed doesn't match the number of valid levels, make sure you have working replays recorded for all your levels - the ultimate list will be assembled at the end of next week after all submissions are in.

Submitting 5 levels.  I enjoyed making and playing them, hope you do too.

(Yes, Frequency Bypass is short.  I just enjoy watching the movement of the walkers.)
(Ambidextrous doesn't have a solution to it due to errors with the CC2 editor, but it is solvable.  It's pretty straightforward, and the "solution" given shows how to solve half.)

My 25 levels for submission. They should be all recorded and watched.  These are all levels I've made so far in CC2.  "Blocker's Dozen" and "Outside The Box" are repeat submissions as they were submitted independently and are now being bundled here.  All other levels are new submissions.

I hereby submit IHNN1 for CC2LP1 consideration. This is a bit complicated, though.
All 100 levels in the c2g are submitted, except for levels 1 and 60. I submit the versions of those levels in the "submissions" folder in the "goodies" folder in their stead.

I also submit the "rejections" folder with the original IHNN1 and the 15 levels within (which currently do not have replays- these will be added when I verify the main 100). The "keeps" folder is not submitted as its levels have been revamped and submitted already, through the c2g.

I do not submit crazytrainoriginal.c2m or the "random crap" folder.

In total, this should be 115 levels submitted.

Hi, everybody!  It's been a while...

I'm currently locked out of my old account, and couldn't post anything here before the deadline, but I was able to submit these 28 levels indirectly via Facebook early yesterday morning and hopefully they can still be considered.  I'm putting them up here in the thread as well just to make sure it's official.

A lot of these are just Chip56 levels reworked for CC2, but there's some fresher designs in there, too:
