Presentation

Recommended Posts

It would be nice to have a (pinned) presentation topic where people can introduce themselves. I know we already had one at the old cczone, and most people maybe know who most people are, but some are new! Also, ther are some new nicknames with "old" people behind them and I haven't quite figured out who everyone is...

I guess I could start a topic like this myself, but I'm not sure if there already is one?

Also, what's this first and second rule about?

I'm geodave and I'm a major Lynxophile. I make a lot of crappy levels and a few good ones, and will kill you all if I don't get at least one level into CCLP1. Oh, I'm also the Speaker for the CCLP1 staff (until they kick me off) and working on various other secretive projects.

pb_guy here. I am 60. A fundamentalist christian who believes the bible in a totally literal sense, including the age of the earth being between 6 and 10 K years old. I did 6 years in universities, including Dr. Suzuki's genetics classes at UBC. I am a biologist, recently retired from a forestry research station in BC, Canada where I maintained our computer systems, wrote specialty software for our station needs, wrote our emergency procedures and safety manuals, and grew trees from "improved" seed, both our own breeding stock, and for specialty contracts to other private forestry agencies. I had my private pilots license since 1976, and own a historical (1963) homebuilt Smith Termite(CF-PGG), which I am hoping to donate to a museum. Currently, I am grandfather and part time caregiver to a delightful 5 year old who just started her first year of school.

PB stands for PowerBasic, my compiler of choice. I stumbled across chips in the Microsoft Entertainment pack in the 80's. I finished the original set about 3 times before I found out about this group. I have played a lot of levels others have designed. I have looked in now and again on the CC community. I lost my password somehow to the yahoo group, and can't get it back because I have changed email providers. I have designed a few levels. Recently I have made some more, and hope to get around to putting all of them in a single set, about 35 total, once I work some more bugs into them. :)

Hey everyone! This is Flareon350, also known by my actual name, Josh, and also a side nickname "Flame" (which all of you didn't know). I'm a 20 year old central Californian person who sometimes acts weird and such (which is normal to me) I'm a big Chip's Challenge and Pokemon fan for I have played both since I was 8 and wish to combine both of these into something amazing!

I only recently started LPing CC sets back in late August of 2011, the first one being the infamous CCLP2. The LP itself was semi-blind as the many years beforehand I seen many AVI solutions to many of the levels but never actually played the set itself.

Now I am currently LPing CCLP3 which isn't blind at all (but I know I'll fail at some point in the upcoming levels) and also 2 custom sets: BHLS1 & BigOto Returns, which are 2 of the greatest sets I've ever played!

I also have LPed many other games, including a special type of run in Pokemon Platinum, Pac-Man World 3, Paper Mario 2: The Thousand-Year Door, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. I plan to LP many other games aside from CC in the near future!

I've also made about a good 500 levels of CC, though only around 350 exist, and have been divided up into 3 different sets of mine [JoshL1, JoshL2 & JoshL3] and hope that some will be voted into CCLP1 and the future CCLP4.

Hello, I'm Markus. I am a big fan of the Zelda series and have recently become interested in Chip's Challenge again. I spend a lot of time creating CC levels, I have made nearly 50 so far. I sometimes play competitively. I also enjoy music and racket sports.

I was brought up as a christian and converted to atheism when I was about 10. I live in Aberdeenshire, in Scotland.

As many of you all know, I am BigOto2 on YouTube and do Let's Plays of CC sets such as CCLP3, CC1, and many other custom sets. In reality I am Trevor Hedges, and am 15 years old as of this post. I am atheist as well, and while I certainly don't bash certain religions or beliefs, I refuse to immediately believe anything that is not backed up with reasonable explanation (however my mother is Buddhist and believes in karma and tons of other weird Gods which I fail to even comprehend).

I was infamous for my many angry rants about level designing in my LP of CCLP3; I wish people would forget about it all because I've come back around on a lot of it. I do other YouTube let's plays such as Minecraft, Mario Kart 7, and Portal 2. I also created what I think is a really great custom CC set: BigOto Returns. It is my only good set in my history here, many years ago I made a bunch more levels back in 2006 but most of the levels were crappy and outright stupid/embarrassing ideas.

A lot of people here seem to hold a grudge against me for no reason (well maybe for my pointless anger at certain CCLP3 levels, but that time has long past), so I hope I don't seem that bad for those who are just joining us.

Also, COME OUT CC2, WHEREVER YOU ARE! (for those who don't know, the guy who originally created CC made a CC2 but not before he sold CC to Microsoft and lost the rights, thus he cannot release it in it's current form.)

Andrew Bennett, alias The Manipulator General, and also masquerading as jybt, quadrupleplay, SyndicCalls404, Octavarium64, bethlehem316 and outprogged42. I've been an active Chipster mostly since I was 11, though I played since I was around 5, and have attained high rankings in CC1 and CCLP2, also holding the top spot in CCLP3 until the rest of the world caught up; my work here has also included much of the CC Wiki, ChipWiki, other strategy guides, AVI solutions, shameless CC promotion and two levelsets, one of which should probably have combustible lemons thrown at it and one of which still needs somebody to play it.

http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~pieguy/chips/overall.php?set=andrewb1 new (eh)

http://cczone.invisionzone.com/index.php?/files/file/26-manipulatordat/

I am also known nowadays as the Chip's Challenge world's leading promoter of progressive metal, to the chagrin and/or good-natured derision of certain posters; my top five bands are currently Dream Theater, Pantommind, Redemption, Riverside and Zero Hour. I find this style of music, based in freedom of expression, nonconformity to traditional song structures, lyrical themes and instrumentation, contrasting moods (with the heaviness factor of metal an additional dimension as such) and exploitation of technical proficiency in the process of creating original works, speaks to my own perspective on life: a roller coaster of emotions, feelings and moods that, though it is immensely difficult at times, can be overcome through faith, will, perseverance and spirit, and what awaits afterwards is well worth whatever trials and tribulations compose the journey.

On that particular note, I also stand out in the CC community as one of its most openly Christian members, which has been increasingly true in recent weeks, and thus this cannot be left unexplained for the initiated and the muggles. Like a surprising number of Chipsters, I have Asperger's Syndrome, and though I count myself blessedly lucky to have been surrounded by a reasonably well-to-do family, been specially treated by a majority of my teachers, and raised within a supportive church, my condition has been a source of imposing difficulty. My life definitely was not under control for much of my childhood, and threatened to spiral out of control until, within my confusion and dissatisfaction, I finally started to seek God as a real being, not just the indifferent guardian of the universe. That process slowly deepened for years until recently, around October 2011 when it finally converged into a true revival, the combination of searching for concrete, rational reasons for my belief and learning enough about spirituality to truly connect with God. (What those reasons are is for another topic.) From there on, I have trudged through even more arduous challenges, but continually manage to crumble each barrier, and I sigh in wonder each time something new happens; my dreams are becoming fulfilled, one by one, in the perfect time. This is the brief version, and my story of dramatic change and restoration is best contextualized within the CC community: my epiphaneous personal shift has begun to squeeze out less important worldly activities, with Chip's Challenge high on the list. My years-long obsession with competitive play disappeared in mere weeks, the CC Wiki and ChipWiki still gather dust, and my activity on the newsgroup is almost nil. This is mainly because I have comprehended the shallowness of my dreams in comparison to the future awaiting me on the vine. I won't leave the community for some time, because the memories are too precious and the game and your friendship has been instrumental in forming my unique personality, but I'm definitely more of a lurker than I've ever been in years.

I may wish I hadn't spent so much time fruitlessly burning myself out on random or boosting levels, I may wonder why so much untapped talent has been imprisoned within me because of my condition, and I may wonder why I was allowed to suffer through so much and often learn the hard way, but wiser eyes have honestly retrospected to find the resulting greater good and ultimate reason behind every major misfortune, and I wouldn't have changed any of it. The list of awe-inspiring successes and victories is too consistent for me to believe I won't scale the numerous hurdles still remaining, especially with the source of my strength behind me every day, and that there isn't a reason why hurdles have been permitted to impede my path. I'm a person who finds strength in weakness, lessons in failure, and light in darkness, and my life story is all about these balances. Someone who truly understands me will come away a wiser individual, and that's one of the chief lessons I seem meant to teach the world. I hope you have enjoyed this brief insight into, and explanation of, who and where I am now. The Manipulator General signing out.

Hello everyone! My name is Andy, as in Andy Baker, however, sometimes people call me "Endy" because of pronunciation, I was kind of tired of having "Hash" (or Hash1 in this case) as a nickname, but it was not because I didn't like it. I am 16 years old right now. I was born in Spain and have lived in the US, now I live in Spain.

About me And Chips, I first played when I was five, I had it with the BOWEP, then almost forgotten about it until I was 12, I later also found out about making your own levels. I first heard about CCZone (the old one) on Mike L's site two years ago. I like making Chip's Challenge levels, well, sometimes it's hard for me to make a good one, but I try, I also like making custom tilesets, oh, and I'm (still) working on my first set, it's not released because I'm not spending as much time as I'd like to on Chip's Challenge either because of daily routine, laziness, or lack of inspiration, but I'll see what I can do.

Interests? I like rap, rock, heavy metal, pop, and house music. I also like games besides CC, such as old school mario, sonic, some nintendo games, challengo, monopoly, some playstation 2 games, and some computer games.

+5 awesome points. The actual line was suprisingly awesome, and even more awesome in context.

Get the Iocane Powder!

It's just rehashed arsenic with differant symptoms and harder to detect. They're both tasteless, odorless, and highly soluable in water. And they both will kill you. Arsenic is usually colorless as well, but that depends on the form. Building up resistance to a poison over time due to constant, small doses works with a lot of poisons.

... I know, I spoil all the fun, don't I? It's still a good story.

Is it sad that the very first time I heard this line was in a "parody" fan film of TPB set in...the Star Wars universe? It was pretty much an homage to that scene, with almost exactly the same dialogue, but with Star Wars locations and lightsabers instead of swords. :) (Check out "Brains and Steel" on TheForce.net.)

No. I just post at CC Zone. Oh, and goof off on chessgames.com. Books are exclusively for the bus and during class.

You play chess? Checkers is so much more fun. There's just too much logic in chess for me.

I have it, but don't use it too often - the screen's fairly small, so it's not really that convenient to use... On a family vacation last year with long days of driving, the only times I used the Internet on it were to occasionally check email and to look up things that we were wondering about on Wikipedia... :D

I study chess more than I actually play it. I lack the requisite long-term vision to be good at it. I'm fairly decent when it comes to spotting tactical combinations, but beyond that...nah. It entertains me, though. Playing through a great game by Tal or Spassky is one of those little things that makes life more or less worth living.

Anyway, all that said, I'm even worse at checkers.

Do you play it online?

Hi I'm Hash1, My nickname is changed back to the "original" one. I already introduced myself as "Endy" on here but I somehow "lost" that account. So now I'm Hash1 again.

Anyways, me beeing "Hash1" again is not bad at all... besides, my youtube has "hash" in it, my yahoo has "hash" in it, and a few other things as well... the 1 after Hash is because in the old CCZone, I wasn't familiar with the names (obviously) so just in case there were more hashes out there (although that is rare), I could be the Hash no.1, and not no.2 and so forth.

The name Hash1 comes from a black, green-eyed cat I used to have that's name was, if you haven't already guessed it, Hash. Years have passed since I had him, but that doesn't mean I don't have him in my memory.

Well, about the introduction read Endy's post on this thread.

Hello, my name is Stan and I’m an alcoholic.

My favorite video games are Chips Challenge, Lemmings, Legend of Zelda and Mario

Some of my favorite artists are: Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, King Crimson, Salvador Dali, Jackson Pollock, David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick

I believe I am suffering from a slight addiction to forum activity. That is; doing internet community related things just for the purpose of doing internet community related things, instead of having a real passion for the topic at hand. But I do actually like chips challenge and hope to start making levels again soon.

I have weird patterns of going for a while being intensely interested in a topic then forgetting about it completely, then becoming interested again.

Weird things inspire level ideas for me; like taking a walk in park, instead of playing other levels.

I’ve recently been trying to make my own Zelda game but it’s not getting off to a real great start.

Wow, the number of openly Christian and Asperger's Syndrome people here is sort of surprising imo. I too, have (or had) Asperger's Syndrome!

My belief is that our entire universe is one of many that make up the atoms in another universe on a larger scale and this pattern repeats infinitely.

The Princess Bride reference was worth coming here.

I'm Ruben, and I've been inactive most of the time since 2002 or so, but the release of CC2 made me come out of hiding. I only discovered this forum a few months ago.

Some ages ago I wrote programs like Mapmaker and T-chip. My Chip-related activities these days include trying to stay competitive in CC2 and sometimes play Lynx mode in the other official level sets.

Hi people.
I'm ChocophileBenj, from France. I'm 23.
I like videogames, programming, and anything that requires calculation. I like a few fantasy novels, too (The Age of Fire + Eragon + Chronicles of the Emerged World... I can talk of the latter a long time if you want).

Also, I used to play Hearthstone but I'm kinda terrible when comparing to my friends. I stopped at The Great Tournament.
I'm looking for a community and some friends ; not that I don't have friends IRL, but I don't see them as often as I wish... plus I'm a little bit wild, too, but being social is... well... necessary, sometimes.

I finished the 149 levels of the first CC set as I was 10 (and the level Pain was rightfully named :D ). I've always found this game very fun, and the possibilites of creating levels through some elements is something that I've liked in every video or board game I've met that allows such a thing.

Namely Dominion (board game) and Candy Crush (a somewhat-gamish video thing that has enjoyable levels).
I knew about an editor a few years ago (that's what I used to dream to as a child) but I played a bit, alone ... and now I'm kind of fed up being lonely and I want to share my levels with you.
That's why you'll see soon some of my level ideas.
