PB_guy 17 Report post Posted February 2, 2012 On occasion, something useful comes up. Today only, February 2, you can download the full version of Ashampoo's Snap4 from the giveawayOfTheDay's website for free. This is useful for screen captures and video editing. In another post, someone had said: "For those of us who don't have Chip's Challenge and therefore cannot use ChipCap, do you have any recommendations on how we should record AVIs of our Tile World solutions that do not reach the exit? ... BigOto2 69 Report post Posted February 3, 2012 *Facepalm* Apparently NOBODY has listened to my hundreds of recommendations to this community to try Hypercam 2. Looking at the quality of my CC videos recorded with it, I think it is the best thing available, but nobody has listened to me and everyone acts like it doesn't exist. It is far superior to ChipCap too because ChipCap alters the playback speed and does not record in very clear quality. Download it here: http://www.hyperionics.com/hc/
geodave 98 Report post Posted February 3, 2012 This is just generally useful: http://www.cutepdf.com/ Plus, I must plug Cam Studio -- it have a bit of a time limit problem but is very easy to use: http://camstudio.org/ And, another nice tool, Notepad++: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
BigOto2 69 Report post Posted February 3, 2012 Also, don't forget Audacity which is great for recording/editing audio, and it's all free. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ VLC media player, while it may be uglier than Windows Media Player, runs way smoother with larger videos and can play pretty much any file format. I use it for everything: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

BigOto2 69 Report post Posted February 5, 2012 I have HyperCam and used it to record my LPs for Chip's Challenge. You have to pay for it though. Not anymore! Hypercam 2 is totally free now.
ajmiam 90 Report post Posted February 12, 2012 Thanks for the Hypercam2 rec, BigOto2! I downloaded it a few days ago. For a free screen recorder, it works really well; the only (really minor) issue is that occasinoally it skips frames of TW Lynx mode animation. Hypercam2 is what I used to record the preview video for my new levelset! Oh, and geodave, I can concur that Notepad++ is useful. It certainly makes Java source code (for my programming classes) much more readable than plain ol' Notepad.
Markus 45 Report post Posted February 13, 2012 Paint.NET - a free picture editing software for windows. It has many features and tools that make it better than MS Paint. http://www.paint.net/ I recommend ffdshow for a video encoder. It makes smaller files than most encoders (eg. Divx and Microsoft Video 1) and makes high quality videos. http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/
BigOto2 69 Report post Posted February 14, 2012 I should get Paint.net one of these days, as I hear it is very useful for 3D modelling textures (which is very useful in the Mario Kart Wii hacking world).
