Well for sure the 23rd one is gonna be better than the 22nd for me. It can't be worse, so let's look forward!

Also, I'm amazed J.B. started this thread because of my bday :)

:teeth: Teeth is very happy and pleased with that good action.

I had this idea not too long ago too, but I was too lazy to post it and I didn't want to keep track of a bunch of dates. Anyway, today I can wish happy birthday to my mother as well as Rock, and my own birthday is not too far off either, on March 29th I will be 16!

Wait, why did I pick a blob instead of the classic teeth for Rock? :P Must have Bloblake on the brain...

Hope you had a great birthday Rock! :)

My birthday is on September 29th, exactly 6 months past Trevor's! Though I'm 4 years older than him :P I'll be 21 this year.

Also, why is the first association made with me level designing-wise is Bloblake!? I want you to forget about this piece of garbage :P

Oh I can imagine your older than me by at least 2 years J.B. :) though it would be really amazing if it were the same year!

My Birthday is on February 7th. I'm actually younger than Micronexer by a few months .

I see. So I'm the third youngest chipster around.

Awesome :)

It's weird and highly unusual for me to be (one of) the older people in a group, so this is a neat feeling. :D

One of my half-birthdays many years ago involved a CC-themed cake. You can see the picture on the Bit Buster Facebook group somewhere.

You seriously need to celebrate with a Portal cake - as in, The Cake - sometime. ;)

The best birthdays are when they are on Christmas Eve. One of my cousins is on the 24th December and he gets like doulble the presents, the lucky *****!

My brothers both have December birthdays, and always felt like they got cheated. "Here's your combination birthday/Christmas present!"

I read about a family who celebrated their kid's birthday in June, even though he was born on Christmas. You know, to sort of balance it out over the year...

I've always wondered about what some people do in those scenarios. I always feel bad for people who are born close to Christmas for that reason...:)

I think that was mentioned in Diary of a Wimpy Kid - if your birthday is on Christmas, you will only get one round of party/presents per year, which totally blows... unless you celebrate at a different time of year of course!

My main squeeze and I were married Christmas Eve, 1977. People who came to the event had to have their Christmas shopping finished. It made the season more restful for them that year they say.

Never celebrated a half-birthday.

I don't even celebrate full birthdays. :P

Always makes me feel awkward when other people celebrate mine for me or get me presents. I just don't care about them or see what's worth celebrating...as the creator of the webcomic Abstruse Goose puts it:

happy_birthday_Charlotte_Grace.PNG

(Actually, I lied. I celebrated my 19th a couple months ago, but because there was something worth celebrating [i broke free from the chains holding me back from certain activities, most notably poker]. Even then, the celebration was pretty tame :P)

Quoted because I can relate. 100%.

I remember being 19 and going up to Niagara Falls and just being old enough to go into the casino. I think the gambling and drinking ages in Canada are 19...I know there were definitely people I knew who went up there before they were 21 so that they could get wasted (legally, that is)...

Ages like 18, 19, and 21 just seem so arbitrary...why not 20? It's a nice, round number. :)

But.. but.. you can't legally drink when you're 20! :spy:

That must suck! Then again, it's better than the age of 18 in England. Too many drunks getting into fights on the streets these days.

I can testify, at least from my experience, that waiting until you're of the legal age before you start drinking does not help you abstain when you do start drinking.

As much as the world glorifies drinking, I have so many hobbies that require a sober mind (especially logic puzzles) that I am proud to be a teetotaller at the ripe old age of 24.

(By the way, my birthday is May 26. Be very afraid.)

I've honestly never written a decent term paper or other piece of prose without being intoxicated. I've tried playing chess while drunk, and all I can say is that it's not as bad as you might expect. It's certainly better than trying to play it while fatigued from a lack of sleep.

I don't really like the world's fascination with alcohol either, although I wouldn't go as far as to never have a drink. ("a" being the key word: nothing about getting drunk appeals to me)

Me too. I drink socially on occasion, but getting drunk is near the very bottom of my 'Thingsnto do before I die' list.

Oh, by the way, it's my 18th today!!!!

Who does math that way anymore, anyway? Elementary schoolchildren?

I'd rather get detention than lose my rights to use a calculator like everyone else does in REAL LIFE.

Actually, doing it in your head helps the concept of thinking and keeps your brain active, connections and all this fancy stuff so that you don't become retarded at the age of 55.

(Maybe that escalated a lil' too quickly there, didn't it?)

Anyway, I do the math in my head most of the time IRL.

Speaking of which, the Android alarm clock app that I mentioned in the other thread requires me to solve 4 math problems before any snoozing or turning it off. It's all good until I run into something multiplied by 13, which was the times table I never memorized. It takes about 40 seconds to do on average, which by that time, the music has played long enough to get me awake enough to get up right then.

Okay, I forgot how much this thread was de-railed from the original discussion.

LOL I was bored that morning...

But that is quite useful when you don't have a calculator handy.

Even when you do have a calculator on hand, performing a calculation mentally may still be faster than the mere act of pulling out said calculator and plugging in the numbers.

I forgot that I recently passed the halfway point to where now I'm in the final six months until my birthday is here again, or as most people would probably call it a half-birthday. great, I still have to wait

Speaking of which, yesterday was not only Rock's birthday but also my mother's birthday, who I won't name on the public forum but everyone knows who she is through Facebook anyway. Happy birthday!

Also, my own birthday is coming up in 12 days (already!?). I am already experiencing that horrible feeling of getting older, but at least I might just perhaps maybe possibly be getting some new computer parts out of it!

I like how the very first post of this topic was J.B celebrating Rock's 23rd birthday.

I can imagine this topic turning out to be like a time capsule or something for aliens.

I don't mind getting older. It's getting older without any feeling of being closer to what I wanted to be at that moment of my life that hurts.
