Nice symmetrical distribution of fours in this one.

No! The last number was 2 sin (2/5 pi)! You were supposed to double that! geodave didn't double the last number, but I decided to ignore that and double his number anyway. Don't ignore me! :[

let's see.. 6 6 10 10 8 8 6 4 -- that's 67108864 -- right? Sorta did that on the fly.

And my pentagon thing was an aside -- duh.

I like how the digits are sort of clustered with low ones at the beginning and higher ones at the end (save for that deviant 5). I think of the 0 as acting as the break between the two classes.

Say someone messed up with this whole doubling thing...at this point, would anyone notice?

Well, as a CS geek, I know that 2^31-1=2147483647 is the largest number that an int can hold in Java, so I know 2147483648=2^31 is a power of 2.

The number 2123507648, is not a power of 2, so someone must have messed up along the way...

Perhaps I can restore the correct sequence...

2147483648*2=4294967296.

A 10-digit number with only 5 distinct digits (2, 4, 6, 7, 9)! Also, each block of 2 digits in the first number (21, 47, 48, 36, and 48) got perfectly doubled (to 42, 94, 96, 72, and 96) without any carry from the previous block messing them up! What are the odds of that?

Not much too interesting about this number other than the ...743...347... bit.

Oh, and BitBuster, you are so ubiquitous on these forums that your avatar change made me think I was on a completely different site! :P

2,199,023,255,552.

Lots of 5s, lots of 2s. I like that.

Calculator time!

68719476736

Calculator FAIL....2.1 x 2 not equal to 6.8

2,199,023,255,552.x 2 = 4,398,046,511,104

3 4s and 3 1s (note -- no apostrophes)

4,398,046,511,104 x 2 = 8,796,093,022,208

starts and ends with 8s, three 2s in a row

Edit: Those times are too far apart...I guess I didn't see there was another page.

BTW, Dave, you know that posting in this thread doesn't add to your post count...right? :)

[immediately thereafter, Dave concentrates his posting energy elsewhere.]
